Hello from Hilltop Baptist Church! We have had a lot of positive things happen in the time since we last had a blog on here, so there is so much to fill everyone in on. First of all, many apologies for the lack of communication. More effort will be put into Hilltop Baptist Church website to keep everyone up to date.
So, in the last entry, it was stated that Brother Ken and his wife left the church and boy, do we still miss them! Pastor Allen and other Brother Ken have taken up his many duties and have been doing a marvelous job. Pastor Allen has stepped away from the choir and passed that duty on to Sister Heather and she is doing exceptionally well. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have a well established choir though, lol. We also have had Brother Jon, Brother Chris and Brother Mel step up to take turns in leading our music on Sunday services. Brother Greg still plays the piano for us with Sister Laurie filling in for him incase of an absence, and Sister Johna plays the organ for us. Sister Heather, along with being our choir leader, also plays the flute during songs and Sister Casey plays the violin. We are still enjoying having the Praise Team sing the beautiful, uplifting praise songs to our Lord before Pastor Allen begins his message. We are always looking for more people to join the choir, praise team, or play an instrument, so please, speak with Sister Heather if you are interested.
Pastor Allen, as usual, is on fire for The Lord!! It is the best thing here on earth, to have a Bible Preaching Pastor that loves God as much as he does, that treats his congregation as family, as Brothers and Sisters, not just Church members, who goes out on visitation to help spread the gospel and try to bring more people to the Lord and His love, and most importantly to save lost souls, a Pastor who will roll up his sleeves and work right along side of us to continue keep Hilltop Baptist Church beautiful and running the way our Loving Lord says we should.
Speaking of keeping Hilltop beautiful, we have had some BIG changes in our Church. A lift has been installed on the main floor by the main entrance that will bring our members up to room 200 on the second floor. Room 200 has had a makeover too. The walls were sanded, and repainted, and there were even walls that were removed. It is such a nice large, open room. Pastor Allen is now in the process of remodelling the restrooms up there.
The biggest change in here is the foyer. Talk about a change! The carpet has been pulled up and a very nice ceramic tile has been laid down. The walls have been painted in a soothing lavender and smoky purple, there are large black and white photos of Hilltop Baptist Church from 38 years ago so you can see how much the building has transformed, and the Gideon 300 board has been tastefully redone. We have many different seating areas now for our members to sit and join in fellowship between services. See? I told you, many positive changes have occured in the last 10 months!
Now, onto the present. We are still a happy, friendly, God fearing Church that loves visitors and new members. Our Sunday schedule is as follows; Sunday School starts at 9 AM, Church starts at 10 AM, and Sunday evening service starts at 6 PM. Discovery Club starts at 4:30 PM for the teens, and 6 PM for K-6. Discovery Club is available during the School year, and breaks for summer. Choir practice is at 5 PM on Sunday unless otherwise stated. On Wednesday we have services at 6 PM. During the summer, we have a meal and a message in the gym. There is a small charge of $3 a person or $10 a family during this time if it is a meal provided by the church. We also have potluck nights which is of no charge. Feel free to look at our calender to see what the meal is for that date. With so many service times available, we hope to see you soon and join us in worshipping our Lord and Saviour. We love our members and we love to have new guests. Feel free to invite a friend, co-worker or neighbor to join you. God loves all His children. Praying to see you all soon. God Bless!!
